Ruth Wallace, BA, Program Director

Ruth is an Addiction Counselor and has 25 years of experience in the field of Social Services and Mental Health. She also has 16 years of extensive knowledge in the field of Chemical Dependence. She retired after 23 years of service in the Air National Guard.

 

 

Ron Smith, MS, Outpatient Coordinator

Ron has worked in the treatment field since 1985.  He worked at Kahi Mohala Psychiatric Hospital as a mental health specialist in Ewa Beach Hawaii. In 1987 he began working for Castle Medical Center and supervised the Employee Assistance Program. Ron was the outpatient coordinator for their addictions treatment program in Kona Hawaii. In 1991 he began working at Feather River Hospital as the outpatient coordinator for their alcohol and drug program. When Feather River closed its addiction program, he decided to open Chico Recovery Center which has been serving Butte and surrounding counties since 1991. In 2003 he expanded the program to Redding and opened Shasta Recovery Center. For fun and relaxation he enjoys escaping into the mountains.

 

David Aust, Outpatient Counselor

David is a certified drug and alcohol and counselor through the California Alcohol and Drug Educators of California, attaining his license in 2001. He is also a Registered Nurse and worked for Safeguard Services for 16 years investigating Medicare Fraud. David was employed as a counselor at Chico Recovery from 2004 to 2013 and then returned, part time in 2015.
David's hobbies are trumpet playing (when his wife, and neighbors, can tolerate it!) and training for 5k to half marathons. He is the proud of father of a daughter and beautiful granddaughter who reside in San Diego.

darcia d. Jonson, MS, Outpatient Counselor

Darcia has seventeen years of experience as a public health educator. She then spent a decade at the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She earned a Master of Science in Counseling from Georgia State University in 2011. She traveled to Addis Ababa Ethiopia to assist leaders at St. Paul Millennium Hospital fortify their recovery efforts in 2013. Darcia also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations. Darcia loves music and dance!
